Mission

Root Foundation, in the spirit of educator Martha Root, exists to advance human civilization by providing start-up funding and planning expertise to qualified emerging schools in rural areas of developing nations, schools that serve students from poor families and that provide training in character development necessary for social and economic development.

 Vision

Root Foundation is a Bahá’í-inspired organization that seeks to help establish schools founded on the belief that individuals have innate value whose full potential can be realized through mutual respect and cooperation. Our belief is that it is mankind’s destiny to create a society in which

* Justice is firmly established,

* The extremes of wealth and poverty are eliminated

* Racial, social and political prejudices cease to exist

* The equality of men and women is a reality

* The idea of the oneness of humanity pervades all mankind

* The diverse nations of the world are fused into one commonwealth

We see education that reflects these beliefs to be a potent means of realizing individual potential and as a powerful force in the transformation of society.

What we do

• We give scholarships to rural area village children attending private schools that offer character development as part of the curriculum.

• We provide startup funding and resources to rural area schools for the development of Pre-K, Kindergarten, and/or primary schools that offer character development as part of the curriculum.
